OPX003: MISTONE - “PROTOTYPE / STEEZ”

Łódź, Poland based electronic producer and bovine enthusiast Mistone (also known under the alias DJ Bullock) loves to explore the legacy of various dance styles of the 20th and 21st century with his different solo projects. As Mistone, he delves deep into the broken rhythms and ecstatic nostalgia of drum & bass and jungle, trying to push the limit of the genre built around the one and only Amen Break. His newest release is the digital single “Prototype / Steez”. The opening track is a spacious nostalgia power trip that carries the distinct mood of an illegal warehouse rave in the 1990’s, with wailing sirens and trippy basslines. The flipside is a real stoner’s delight, with a smokey sample opening and a distinct jungle aesthetics fill the headspace with wonderful drum configurations and an atmosphere reminiscent of early Amon Tobin. “Prototype / Steez” is a preparation for a whole new direction for Mistone, who’s starting his journey into the techno territory with the Qwboy project, soon to be released on Optiplex.
